CRESSON, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- WTAJ News was contacted by concerned viewers that because SCI Cresson was closing, some registered sex offenders were being released early.

WTAJ News Reporter Danielle Krout spoke to the State Parole Board about the allegations that 15 registered sex offenders were being paroled ahead of their release date.

The state said the rumors were false but there are sex offenders who will be going on parole.

"There are offenders who are granted parole," said Sherry Tate Director Office of Policy, Legislative Affairs and Communications.  "I don't have the exact dates but they have been waiting for release and no one is being released early... this has nothing to do with the prison closing."

Tate went on to state that no sex offender will be released without successfully completing their program and sentencing.
