City firefighters noticed a drop in water pressure and notified museum officials. None of the artifacts were damage but the museum is closed until the water is cleaned up.
"We are thankful it was caught in time," said Shelley Johansson, Johnstown Area Heritage Association. "This could have been a lot worse that what it was, we're just working to make sure everything is safe and dry to re-open."
Johansson credits the city fire department for saving the building from further water damage.
Notifications on when the museum reopens will be posted online.
