ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - The peace of one normally quiet Altoona neighborhood was shattered last weekend after a string of car break-ins.

According to the Altoona Police Department, 11 vehicles in the Tuckahoe Park Area were broken into on Saturday night.

"This has never happened up in this neighborhood. It's always been a really nice quiet neighborhood until now."

One of the victims, who chose not to be identified, says her husband was just a few feet away in the garage when two young men in their late teens or early 20's started rifling through her vehicle.

She says that's when her husband stepped in.

Finally he had an altercation with one of them and he did have a hold of him and he broke loose from him.

The woman says her husband cut his knee and elbow in the scuffle, but was ok.

During the chase the robbers dropped most of the stolen property from the vehicles, but they were able to hang on to a Glock 9 millimeter pistol.

"Anytime you have an illegal firearm out there there's not only a danger to the general public but to law enforcement as well,"  Lt. Jeffery Pratt of the Altoona Police Department says.

Altoona police have described the two men as being average height with dark hair.

They say most of the vehicles were unlocked at the time of the break-ins.

"I'm alittle concerned about it....I am. I'm just afraid they might come back and do something else or hit somebody else," the victim says.

Both suspects are still on the loose. Anyone with any information is encouraged to contact the Altoona Police Department.

Two men were arrested on Sunday for breaking into vehicles, but Altoona police does not believe they are connected to Saturday night's crimes. Blair county Crimesolvers are offering up to a $2,000 reward for any information that leads to an arrest.
