Sports Illustrated: PA to Sue NCAA

By: Patrick Schurr
Updated: January 2, 2013

Sports Illustrated reported Tuesday that the State of Pennsylvania is planning to sue the NCAA.

The magazine's website said the lawsuit could be announced as early as Wednesday.

It would challenge the sanctions levied against Penn State following the Jerry Sandusky case.

The university itself is apparently not involved in the forthcoming filing.

A portion of the penalties imposed on Penn State by the NCAA is a $60 million fine.

That money is supposed to go toward child abuse prevention efforts nationwide, but Pa. lawmakers are arguing for it to be spent locally.
