PENNDOT Crews Cover Central PA Plowing Roads

By: Carolyn Donaldson
Updated: December 27, 2012
PENNDOT has 200 crews clearing the roadways around the clock Wednesday, trying to clear as much snow as they could.

The department issued some safety warnings for motorists.
They say allow extra room when driving in and around snow plow trucks and ask that motorists never try and pass a truck while it is plowing the roads.

PENNDOT advises motorists if they must travel, make sure they pack an emergency kit for their vehicles.

As PENNDOT's spokesperson Pam Kane reports,  "We always have 5-1-1.  You can call 5-1-1 - 24 hours a day - It's free to find out road conditions. You can also log onto 511pa.com which give you all these traffic cams in the background here and you can check on road conditions here."

PENNDOT will continue to treat roadways throughout the storm until the snow stops and roads are clear.
