Animal Support Drive Underway

Updated: December 19, 2012
STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY -  A different sort of food drive to benefit animals is underway this holiday season.

The Animal Medical Hospital in State College is again collecting pet food, animal supplies and money to help some local animal rescue groups. The collection got underway at the start of December and runs through the end of the month.

Organizers say so far the drive has been well supported.  They say the effort helps because there are so many unwanted animals are cared for by a number of private groups.  Because those agencies deal with a chronic lack of financial support, this holiday drive gives them a chance to get some of the supplies they need  to run their organizations.

Organizers of the drive are encouraging people to donate anything pet related.  All of the donated materials will be divided among a number of animal relief groups at the end of this year.  Any one interested in supporting the drive can stop by the Animal Medical Hospital on North Atherton Street in State College.
