Several members of the Mapleton fire company are now better protected and equipped then they head out to handle emergency situations in Southern Huntingdon County. The department was on the receiving end of a program that is providing new turn out gear for 125 firefighters across the country. Four of the volunteers receiving the new protective gear are members of the Mapleton fire company.
The new protective gear was donated by the Globe manufacturing company. As part of the company's anniversary celebration, the firm sought out volunteer fire companies facing significant financial challenges.
Because the Mapleton department generally has little money available for buying new protective gear, the Company will be able to make good use of the $12,000 in new equipment.
