Donations Down

BROOKVILLE, JEFFERSON COUNTY - For 30 years, the Brookville Food Pantry has been helping local families. Since the beginning, Ed Pearce has been volunteering.
He says at the holidays the amount of people they serve jumps by 80 families. On Thanksgiving, they served 667 people.
Right now, donations are lower than they were last year and Pearce says this is normally the busiest time of year for food and monetary donations. It is what gets them through the slow months.
"Our largest donations like some of the $5,000, some other $3,000 and $2,000; after January we will not get those kind of donations" he said.
Some food pantries across Central Pennsylvania feel donations are low due to the people that would normally donate to them, donating to Sandy Relief.
Pearce feels this is not the case in Brookville. He says, they are great support and he expects donations to pick up.
