CAMBRIA COUNTY - 19 families in Johnstown were told they have 15 days to pack up and get out.  But is it legal?   It is.  Mary Fike a tenant said "there's disabled people that live here and veterans that live here."

Mary Fike lives in one of these apartments off of Suppes Avenue in Johnstown, this week she received this hand written letter saying she and the other tenants have till December 1st to be out.

"How can you go to sleep right before the holidays- you put 19 families on the street."

Jennifer Spock a tenant said  "I mean that lady is disabled and has cancer and he has to find somewhere else to live.  It was convenient for her to go to the hospital up the road for chemo treatments.  Meanwhile the landlord is sitting in a restaurant in a big nice house he's gonna have big old house with heat, water utilities, Thanksgiving and Christmas."

Tenants are questioning whether their landlord Stan Carrier has the legal right to evict so quickly.

Constable Sam Allison said "The landlord is totally right what he's doing.   If they don't get out in 15 days they have to go file a landlord tenant"

Allison adds " The holidays are coming, none of us have anywhere to pick up and go quick."

WTAJ did check with the courts. None of the properties were actually sold yet, the ones across the street were sold and it looks like they will be turned into a parking lot.

Our calls to the landlord were not returned.   The bottom line, if the tenants are not out by the December 15th, the owner has to file with the courts.
