BLAIR COUNTY, ALTOONA - Many restaurants and organizations across Central Pennsylvania are saying thank you to current and past members of the U.S. military by offering free or discounted meals.

Army veteran Michael Sweeney was on the receiving end of that gesture when he sat down to eat at an Altoona Denny's.

The restaurant is offering free, all-you-can-eat pancakes to all veterans.

"It's showing appreciation for the service not only I gave but also those in the past for everything they've done for this country," Sweeney said.

"I just think it's a good thing," he added.

Many restaurants across the country are offering similar deals to veterans for this Veterans Day holiday. Visit this page to find some of those restaurants and organizations.
