Assistant DA: "Be Careful What You Ask For"

EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- A recorded phone conversation will keep Carl Harris behind bars.

The 20-year old was in court Tuesday for a bond reduction hearing; it was denied and increased from $75,000 to $150,000.

"He came asking for a bail reduction and had no idea that this was coming," said Assistant District Attorney Beth Bolton Penna.  "He knew this conversation was recorded he should have been careful what he asked for Tuesday."

Penna played a recorded phone conversation that Harris made to his girlfriend from jail asking her to steal money and change her story.  Harris was hoping to make bond Tuesday but after the judge heard the tapes he denied the request.

Harris was arrested in September charged with aggravated and simple assault along with endangering the welfare of a child.  Johnstown Police said Harris admitted to pressing down on an 8-week old baby's leg causing it to break.

Additional charges could be pending against Harris.
