District 12 Debate

Updated: November 5, 2012
JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY - Two candidates for the new version of the 12th congressional district debated in Johnstown Monday night.

After the census pointed out population shifts the maps were re-drawn pitting Democratic Representatives Mark Critz and Jason Altmire against each other. At the start of Monday night's debate both Altmire and Critz said they didn't want this division, but they would fight to represent the entire new 12th district.

The economy was a major topic of discussion. Both candidates acknowledged the spread out district will be a challenge. Critz has the advantage in Cambria and Somerset Counties. And Altmire has the advantage in the Pittsburgh area. And to many in the crowd that geography will be the deciding factor.

The two candidates will debate again Tuesday night in Pittsburgh.
