Mega Millions Winning Numbers Announced

Updated: March 30, 2012
BLAIR COUNTY - The Mega Millions lottery winning numbers are: 46, 23, 38, 4, 2 and Mega Ball 23

You have a better chance of being struck by lightening -- more than 250 times, actually -- but when there is $640 million dollars up for grabs, mega long odds make for a mega million jackpot.

Who doesn't want to wake up $60 million richer?

The Stefanik's sure do, and like so many others they lined up Friday for their chance to walk away with a winning ticket.

"You'll be hearing us screaming," Kimberlee Stefanik said when asked what she would do if she won.

Sure, the odds of winning are ridiculous.

You have a better chance of being crushed to death by a vending machine -- 1 in 112 million -- but that's not stopping people from placing their bets.

At one local Sheetz, about 9 out of 10 people showed up to buy tickets.

"Pretty much everywhere I stop if they have a lottery, I get a ticket," Richard Mielnik said, who bought 15 tickets total.

"Being out on the road today just about every place that I stopped there were lines out of the door of people purchasing their tickets," added avid lotto player, Scott Michael.

"It's pretty wild," Kwik Fill clerk, Jesse Hughes said. "I never really expected it to get this bad. This is the worst I've ever seen it for the lottery. It's the highest I've ever seen it get."

It's the biggest jackpot in lotto history, more than double the last record jackpot.

But not everyone is swept up in lotto fever.

While exciting, Jerry Yahner said he would rather spend his dollar somewhere else.

"I don't think I'll buy a lottery ticket because I'm a farmer and I gamble enough on the farm without gambling with lottery tickets."

Long odds or not, if you don't play you can't win.

"If it's meant to be it's meant to be," Kimberlee Stefanik added. "So somebody is definitely going to win and hopefully they're generous."
