BOSWELL, SOMERSET COUNTY--- Camp Cadet in Somerset County began in 2000, since then the program has had graduates go on to serve in the U.S. Military.

15- year old Kaylin Dunn said applying to Camp Cadet was not the typical camp most of her friends go to during the summer.

“A few of my friends thought that I was a little crazy,” said Dunn.

About 30 cadets are taking the six day challenge at Outdoor Odyssey in Boswell.  The program is sponsored by the Pennsylvania State Police.

“It is a great program.  We test them physically and mentally to bring out the best cadet in them,” said Trooper Scott Myers with the Somerset barracks.

Dunn said being apart of the Cadet program is an experience she’ll never forget.

“It has taught me to believe in myself,” said Dunn.
