TYRONE, BLAIR COUNTY - PennDOT closed the I-99 northbound exit at Tyrone Monday morning to begin upgrades on the off-ramp.

Drivers are encouraged to get off at Tipton and use old 220 or exit at Bald Eagle and head back down I-99 southbound.

After the improvements are complete and the Tyrone northbound off-ramp is re-opened, PennDOT will close and work on the southbound exit.

The $7-million project will last into mid-September.

PennDOT plans to later re-vamp I-99 exits at 17th Street, Frankstown and Plank Roads in the Altoona area.
