Maryland Man Accused of Raping Bedford Co. Teen

SOUTH HAMPTON TOWNSHIP, BEDFORD COUNTY - State Police arrested a Maryland man accused of raping a teenager in Bedford County. Phillip Bell, 24, of Lavale faces charges including involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and aggravated indecent assault.

Troopers said the rape of the 13-year-old girl happened around mid-day Monday on Laredo Drive in South Hampton Township.

Bell was taken into custody later in the day and was arraigned in front of District Judge Brian Baker. The full list of charges:

  • 2 counts of involuntary deviate sexual intercourse
  • 4 counts of aggravated indecent assault
  • 1 count of corruption of minors 
  • 6 counts of indecent assault

Baker set bail at $175,000. Bell is being held at the Bedford County Prison.
