PHILIPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY - An elderly man was attacked and nearly robbed outside his Philipsburg home Friday night.  State police say the 82 year old was jumped outside of the Philipsburg Towers apartment building at around 10 pm.  A man reportedly punched him in the side of the head and tried to grab his wallet.  The wallet was chained to his pants, so the would-be thief got nothing.  The suspect then ran away on Front Street.
