The two acre site, next to the Hollidaysburg Area Senior High School will provide the room the library needs along with parting for about 36 cars.
Plans for the new two story library building were presented to the public and submitted for government approval this week.
Now supporters are looking to lock up the last of the financial support needed for the $2.8 million dollar first phase of the project. Phase two will cost another $900 thousand and will be completed after additional funds are raised.
Supporters of the new library are confident they will be able to raise all of the money needed because many in the community recognize the need for more library space, especially for children's programming.
Library staff say with a growing demand for computer time and internet services, they need more space .
In their current building they are completely out of room. While supporters of the new Hollidaysburg library are confident they will be able to raise the money needed for construction, they are aware the library operating funds remain very tight.
That's why they are doing what they can to control spending on both their old and new buildings.
The new Hollidaysburg library has been designed in a way to save operating dollars by holding down the both utility and staff expenses.
The people behind the project say they are confident their new location will make the Hollidaysburg library an even greater community asset.
