STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - State College Police have arrested three suspects in an aggravated assault and robbery that took place early Tuesday morning in downtown State College. Brandon Smack, 18, and Jamar Smack, 20, face robbery and aggravated assault charges along with an unnamed juvenile.

Police said the three knocked a 23 year-old Penn State Student to the ground and kicked him. The trio tried to steal the victim’s back-pack, however, they only got away with his iPod.

The attack occurred near the intersection of Fairmont Avenue and Atherton Street.

Shortly after the assault took place Centre County Police located the suspects. Court papers report the officers saw the three suspects had blood on their clothes. Those same papers show that one of the suspects sent a text message to a friend in hopes that she could provide the trio an alibi.

Brandon and Jamar Smack were arraigned before District Judge Daniel Hoffman and transported to the Centre County jail on $75,000 straight bail. The juvenile was turned over to juvenile probation officials and is being held pending a hearing, police said.

Doctors treated and released the Penn State Student from Mount Nittany Medical Center this morning.
