The two Altoona Officers are suspected of severely beating two men in the men's rest room at Pellegrine's Lounge in Altoona. The incident occurred while the officers were off duty and attending a Memorial Day Weekend gathering.
One of the victims spent several days in the hospital and both men that were beaten have gotten extensive medical care. Since more than two weeks have passed since the assault and no charges have been filed, questions have come up. But a spokesman for the state police says there are good reasons an investigation like this would take some time.
Trooper Dave McGarvey says that Investigators want to make sure we get it right, and make sure that they get every body involved . That because if the State Police do go ahead and proceed with charges, but other information comes out and the suspects are found not guilty, some people would be upset,. McGarvey says Troopers want to make sure they don't rush the investigation and do a complete and thorough investigation. McGarvey went on to say that after State Troopers complete their investigation and interview all of the potential witnesses, they will meet with the Blair County District Attorney to determine what criminal charges should be filed in this case.
