BUFFALO, NEW YORK - We looked deeper into the cases Steven Rebert is suspected in in New York.  That is where Rebert grew up.  Police said he is a suspect in an unsolved murder in Genesee County and one in Orleans County.

Our sister station, WIVB in Buffalo tells us there are only two unsolved murders that they could be.  In November of 2005, a man named Bill Fickel was shot in the arm and heart with a 30-30 rifle.  The 46-year-old just walked outside his home to see who pulled in his driveway.  The story was featured on the show America's Most Wanted.  The second unsolved case is that of a man named Kevin Smith, the 47-year-old was found shot dead inside his home.

It's unclear if DNA is what led police to suspect him in the the cases in New York, or if there was other information gathered from Rebert's home connecting him to the cold cases.
