Altoona High Graduates Part of Green Team

STATE COLLEGE- Creating an eco-friendly car for a national competition calls for dedication. "There were plenty of overnights that we've done in the garage it was pretty normal to leave the garage at 3 a.m. just pretty much nightly," said eco-car engineer, Martin Lechner. Martin and his team worked long hours to win their many trophies, but Allison Lilly took care of getting the word out as the competition outreach coordinator. Lilly said, " I figured why not, I mean it's a national competition, even though engineers are building the car, I can do my part by spreading the word doing the outreach public relations for it." Martin and Allison share more than their drive for the eco-friendly car but they are both Altoona High graduates. Lilly said, " I just met him here we made the connection of Altoona, so, we kind of joke about it a lot how we met here we're both from Altoona." The work of the Altoona pair is paying off. Allison has a public relations internship. Martin just accepted a job with General Motors. "All the hard work lead to the position that I accepted, which is control and development engineer, at General, so I'm definitely ecstatic about starting there," he said. They have both gone back to talk to Altoona high students, teaching them the ins and out of going green as a team.
