PITTSBURGH, PENNSYLVANIA -- The American Civil Liberties Union is getting involved in Attorney General Tom Corbett's probing of Twitter.
ACLU officials confirmed they are negotiating with Corbett's office, after the Republican nominee for governor subpoenaed the social media site this week for user information.
Corbett is seeking subscriber information about the accounts of @bfbarbie and @CasaBlancaPA, which have reportedly been tweeting critiques of the attorney general's handling of the Bonusgate investigations and trials.
The ACLU says releasing such information would have major implications on free speech over the Internet.
