Extra Police Needed For Clinton Visit

JOHNSTOWN CAMBRIA COUNTY--- The Johnstown Police Department will have extra officers on duty Sunday to cover Former President Bill Clinton’s visit.
Clinton will attend a “Get-Out-The-Vote” Rally at the Pasquerilla Conference Center in downtown Johnstown. He will speak on behalf of Democrat Congressional Candidate Mark Critz.
Because he is a former president extra security is needed. Since the Johnstown Police Department is already short staffed, extra officers will be called into to help cover the event. But that’s more money coming out of its quickly shrinking overtime budget.
“The officers coming out obviously will be reimbursed. Since it is short notice we haven't had time to discuss any reimbursement costs with the candidate. However, it will be something we would request,” said Chief Craig Foust.
Foust said that the event won’t take a huge amount of their overtime budget out, because the extra officers will only stay a few hours not an entire shift.
The Critz Campaign has not said whether or not they would pay for the extra security needed or make a contribution to the police department.
