Election Officials Say Voter Interest Lacking In Dem. Primary

HARRISBURG, PENNSYLVANIA  -- State election officials are concerned next week's Democratic primary for governor will fall victim to voter apathy.

Pollster Terry Madonna of Franklin & Marshall College said a lack of statewide name recognition among candidates and regionalized support could mean this race is anyone's game.

A recent Quinnipiac University poll showed Allegheny County Executive Dan Onorato in the lead, with 36-percent of the vote.

However, the largest number of voters surveyed remained undecided, at about 37-percent.

The election is May 18th.
