Taste of the Alleghenies Show Kicks off May 8th

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY  -- If you enjoy cooking, you don't want to miss the Taste of the Alleghenies show May 8-9 at the Blair County Convention Center.

On Saturday May 8th there will be a kids cookie decorating competition at 10:30am. 

At 2pm Chef Michael Barna will take the stage for the Taste of Home Cooking School.  He will highlight a number of recipes from the Taste of Home magazine and make them step by step for the audience.  The dishes will be given away as door prizes after the event.


To learn more about Chef Michael Barna check out the Taste of Home Cooking School.  WTAJ News Anchor Amy Mearkle will be the Mistress of Ceremonies for the Taste of Home Cooking School.

On Sunday May 9th, a three-course meal cookoff will take place at 11am.  The two charities that will be competing for bragging rights are Making Strides Against Breast Cancer and the March of Dimes.


Two teams of five people will prepare a three course meal for the audience.  Judges will then pick the winner and prize money will go to the charity.  Taste of the Alleghenies show attendees can also make donations to the charity of their choice.

The main stage attraction on Sunday is the cooking show at 2pm with celebrity chef Curtis Stone.  Curtis has been featured on the Biggest Loser and is on the current season of Celebrity Apprentice.

Ticket Information: $15 Saturday / $30 Sunday, $75 VIP Sunday, $125 Gourmet Sunday.
