HARRISBURG, DAUPHIN COUNTY -- Family members of the seven police officers killed in the line of duty this year in our state each took turns filling in the Fraternal Order of Police star with flowers as part of this memorial service in Harrisburg.

It's a way to remember and provide comfort to grieving family members.

"We've lost a number of officers to senseless violence while in the line of duty protecting us so we need to protect them and be there for them, said Senator Mike Stack (D) Philadelphia.

The seven fallen men include the three Pittsburgh officers killed last April after a four hour standoff in Stanton Heights.
