Hazardous Waste Collection Event

CENTRE COUNTY - The solid waste authority of Centre County is hosting a two day household hazardous waste collection event.

The Waste Authority is located on Transfer Road near the Nittany Mall off of Route 26.

The event kicks off Friday, April 30, at 10 a.m. and is open for drop-off till 6 p.m. .  Then opens up Saturday, May 1, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. .

Here is a list of item the Solid Waste Management will be accepting...
-Insecticides
-Weed killers
-Pool chemicals
-Cleaners
-Poisons
-Corrosives
-Flammables
-Oil based paints
-Mercury/mercury related items
-Fluorescent light tubes
-Bulbs and most other hazardous chemicals

Things not to bring...
-Latex paint
-Used motor oil
-Medication
-Alkaline Batteries

Also, Snappy's will be offering a gift card to folks participating in the drop off event. Every participant will receive a "GREEN Card' from Snappy's that can be dropped off at any local Snappy store. A few winners will be randomly selected from those cards. There are 20 gifts cards worth $25 and one card worth $250
