JOHNSTOWN, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Johnstown Youth Build is helping troubled teens get a second chance in life.

The organization helps 16-24 year olds who have either dropped out of high school or have a criminal record.  The program requires them to attend more than 55 hours of community service, GED classes and to take up a trade study.  The program is eleven months long and with a strict attendance record.

“For a lot of these kids this program is a last stop for them.  If they don’t succeed here they end up back in jail,” said program manager Mindy Rickabaugh.

Goodwill Industries of the Conemaugh Valley Inc. developed the Youth Build Program in 2007.  Since then the program has help more than 60 students.

For more information or to enroll, contact Mindy Rickabaugh at 536-3536, ext. 291.
