Police/Pedestrian Crash Update

STATE COLLEGE, CENTRE COUNTY - Police have filed a search warrant requesting blood sample's from Penn State Student Kevin Ignatuk. Ignatuk was struck by a police SUV driven by Corporal William Muse around 1:45 Sunday morning as he crossed Beaver Avenue near Hetzel Street.

Muse said it was rainy at the time of the crash, and he was said to be going between five and ten miles above the posted 25 miles-per-hour speed limit. Ignatuk suffered head and leg injuries, and police paperwork said he was unconscious when medical responders arrived on scene. 

Friends of the victim said he had been drinking during and after Penn State's annual BlueWhite Game on Saturday, his roommate said he appeared "drunk." Ignatuk, who is from Thornton, was heading to McDonald's on College Avenue with friends at the time of crash. He is still listed in critical condition at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

State Police are now handling this investigation.
