CONEMAUGH TOWNSHIP, SOMERSET COUNTY--- Ideal Volunteer Fire Department and Conemaugh Township became one Wednesday morning.

The two departments consolidated to help save money for the township on insurance costs.

President Denny Crossen said that the merger had a few bumps but overall it has been a smooth transition.  Crossen said that the department now known as ‘Conemaugh Township Station 610’ has already seen an increase in new member applications since the merger.
