PHILIPSBURG, CENTRE COUNTY - A local school district will close its junior high school in an effort to cut costs.

The Philipsburg-Osceola School Board voted to close the junior high school building on Tuesday night.

The decision was made in order to save money. The building will continue to be used for at least the next four years.

The district had been considering several different plans, ranging from renovating some of the buildings to constructing new buildings.

The district also decided to renovate North Lincoln Elementary students. After the junior high is closed, middle school students will attend school at North Lincoln Elementary School and the high school.

The district hopes to sell the junior high school building.
