FRUGALITY, CAMBRIA COUNTY - Fire fighters stay on the scene of a Cambria County forest fire all night long. Those crews battled five separate forest fires. You could see and smell the smoke from miles away.

The fire started late Wednesday afternoon in State Game Land 108 near Frugality. Twenty fire companies from three different counties battled the blaze.

DCNR Forest Fire Specialist James Bloom says local fire fighters were crucial in keeping this fire under control. He says they saved a lot of forest ground and accomplished their number one goal, no one was hurt. And Bloom says that alone is impressive.

He says it was so dangerous they had to pull people out of certain areas and just let the fire burn at times. There were 20 and 30 foot flames moving fast across the ground.

A small group of specialists stayed with the fire all night to keep in from getting out of control, but let it burn. Bloom says a fire this size will keep burning until the rain puts it out.
