New Beginning For Centre County Family

State College, Centre County--- A family gets a new beginning with a new home.

The Miller family never thought that they would be able to own their own home, but thanks to Habitat For Humanity that all changed.  The Millers broke ground and celebrated the start of building a new home on Sunday afternoon. Thanks to dozens of volunteers, the Millers dream of owning a home is becoming a reality.

“It is humbling to see all of these people here, people that you’ve never met before and they are all here building our house,” said Luke Miller.

The Miller’s are the ninth family on Woodycrest Street in State College to have a home built by the Habitat Program in only two years.  This is an accomplishment organizers say they strive for, providing families with a home and new beginning.

“This is an exciting time and a new beginning for a family to cross over into home ownership.  It allows us to stick to our motto of providing simple affordable housing for residents,” said State College Habitat For Humanity President Tim Schoovnover.

The Miller family is expected to move into their new home later this summer, and the tenth home on the street is expected to begin construction by spring.
