Local Community Center in Dire Need of Repairs

CURWENSVILLE---The Curwensville Community Center may have to close it’s doors unless finds can be raised for vital repairs.
Duane Test, President of the Community Center, says the organization has applied for four grants, all of which were denied.
The building, which was built in 1968, still uses the original boiler, and utility bills are running around $20,000 per year.
Besides a new heating system, the deteriorating building needs new floors, new doors, and a new kitchen.
Test says the community has rallied around them, but that all the repairs needed would cost $300,000, so the grant money is vital.
The community center is used by up to 500 people a week, and is home to organizations such as the area’s boy scouts, girl scouts, and women’s club.
Officials are not giving up, and will continue to apply for grants.
