Jefferson County Joins the Communities that Care Network

Updated: February 23, 2010
BROOKVILLE---Jefferson County kicked-off their Communities that Care initiative today, becoming the 8th community in the state to participate in the nationally recognized program. The program is meant to prevent juvenile delinquency, and focuses on issues like drug and alcohol abuse, violence, and school drop-out rates. Officials say the program is unique because research is conducted in each community to determine what is driving the problems with their youth. Communities that Care will assess this research in Jefferson County and provide resources, educational opportunities, and peer networking to help solve problems in the lives of troubled youth.
