Pediatric Heart Care In Our Area

Thousands of children enter the world each year with heart defects, but the American Heart Association says, if your child is born with a heart defect today, the chances are better than ever that he or she will go on to live a normal life. You may not even have to leave the area for much of their treatment.
One-year-old Quintin Bush of Osterburg, Bedford County, was born with four heart defects. He regularly sees pediatric cardiologist Dr. Bryan Funari in Altoona.
Dr Funari checks Quinton's blood pressure, and pulse rate, and sometimes does more intensive testing. He says, "here in Altoona were are able to do any of the procedures that we would do in Pittsburgh for routine clinic vists which include 12 lead EKGs, chest X-rays, echocardiograms."
Dr. Funari is on the staff of Childrens Hospital of Pittsburgh, which provides cardiac office hours to children in Altoona, Dubois and Johnstown. Geisinger Medical Center offers cardiac care to kids in Altoona and State College.
