EBENSBURG, CAMBRIA COUNTY--- Michael Sherwood was sentenced Tuesday for a crash that killed Richard and Lois Davis.  It happened on Route 271 in Northern Cambria back on September 3, 2010.

The judge ordered Sherwood to sever anywhere from 5-12 years in a state prison beginning March 15, 2013.

Sherwood was on his way back from a methadone clinic prior to hitting the elderly couple head on.  One other person was severely injured in the crash.

The 42- year old took a plea deal in February on the day of jury selection for his trial.

"Looking at the facts of the evidence, he felt this was what he should do to move on," said Tom Dickey, Defense Attorney.  "He did address the family in court- but ya know words are never god enough."

"The family is happy," said Gary Jubas, Assistant District Attorney.  "They're just happy they can finally move on."

The judge ordered Sherwood to pay court cost, fines and restitution to the victim's family totaling more than $13,000.  He was also ordered not to be near any alcohol including weddings, family events, restaurants and any other event where liquor is served for the remainder of his sentence.
