Fatal Crash Closes Busy Intersection, Avoid Area

ALTOONA, BLAIR COUNTY - Drivers on Friday morning should avoid the area of 17th Street and 6th Avenue in Altoona.

The coroner said a man, 21, died in a collision with a garbage truck.  The man was driving a sedan.  The trash truck driver was taken to the hospital as a precautionary measure, but is not believed to be injured.

Police have not said what caused the crash.  Firefighters, AMED and Altoona Police Officers remained on the scene as of 7:00 am.

Morning traffic will likely be snarled in that area.
