Could Ice Cream Weaken Your Bones?

By: Charlotte Ames
Updated: February 4, 2013
We're told that eating and drinking dairy products will make our bones stronger, but new research suggests it depends on which form of dairy food we're eating.

When researchers looked at more than 3,000 people, they found those who consumed milk and yogurt had higher bone mineral density in the hip, but not in the spine.

Researchers also found that cream was linked to lower bone density overall. The study author says cream and ice cream  have lower levels of  nutrients and  higher levels of fat and sugar.

The study is in the Journal Archives of Osteoporosis.
