HOLLIDAYSBURG, BLAIR COUNTY - A debate over the future of a popular recreation site in Altoona drew a big crowd on Tuesday.

The weekly meeting of the Blair County Commissioners in Hollidaysburg was packed by people concerned about plans to sell the Valley View Nursing Home and the soccer fields that currently sit on part of the home's property.

For more than twenty years, the American Youth Soccer Association has operated programs that draw hundreds of kids to fields every spring and fall weekend. Supporters of the soccer league say they need some help to preserve their popular program.

At the end of the meeting, the Commissioners made it clear they will continue moving toward selling the soccer fields as part of any nursing home deal.
