Researchers say new mammography recommendations may be harming women.

Two new studies suggest that cancer may go undetected in some women under the revised mammography guidelines. In 2009, the US Preventive Services Task Force recommended testing every two years for women 50 to 74. Previously all women over 40 were routinely tested.

Researchers at New York - Presbyterian Hospital say in their study - nearly 20-percent of cancers detected from a mammogram were in women in their 40-s.
