PSU's Frazier Done for the Season

UNIVERSITY PARK, PA.; NOV. 20, 2012 - Penn State senior guard Tim Frazier (Houston, Texas), a preseason candidate for both the Wooden and Naismith national player of theyear awards, will miss the remainder of the 2012-13 season due to an injurysuffered in the Nittany Lions' third game of the Puerto Rico Tip-Off in Bayamon, Puerto Rico.

Penn State team doctors diagnosed Frazier with a ruptured Achilles tendon in hisleft leg upon the team's return to State College on Monday. The 2012 first-team All-Big Ten guard is scheduled to undergo surgery to repair the injury on Tuesday.

"Tim is a tremendous player, a great team leader and just a fantastic young man who put a ton of hard work into having a terrific senior season," Penn State coach Patrick Chambers said. "I have no doubt he will meet this challenge and will again be one of the top players in the nation."

Frazier, who was leading the Lions posting 21.7 ppg and 5.0 apg through three games, is eligible to apply to the NCAA for a medical redshirt season.
