Logan Township Police are on patrol around the clock, and major shopping areas in the region feature their own security forces so shoppers have every right to feel safe. Still there are steps that should be taken to make sure that they do not become a victim of a pre-holiday theft.
Parking lot theft is almost always a crime of opportunity according to the experts. If you want to keep control of the presents you purchase, the experts say the best thing you can do it keep your packages out of sight. Other shoppers say they just never leave their purchases alone.
Patrol officers who investigate thefts from cars say the use of locks and trunks can go a long way toward protecting those holiday purchases. Police say shoppers should always be aware of their surroundings, and be careful with their wallet or purse.
With big crowds of shoppers expected in the coming days, officers say it's easy for shoppers to get distracted. They add that common sense can go a long way in helping those shoppers avoid becoming the victim of a pre-holiday theft.
