The March of Dimes says Pennsylvania is giving babies a healthier start in life. This year organization gives the Keystone State a "B" for its efforts to lower the rate of premature births.
The pre-term birth rate in Pennsylvania has dropped from a high of nearly 12 percent in 2006 to 11 percent in 2012. The rate of late preterm births in the state now stands at 7.7 percent.
The national prematurity rate remains at almost 12 percent, which earns the United States a "C" from the March of Dimes.
