Researchers say newly released data could speed the discovery of new cancer treatments.
Whole genome data from hundreds of patients at St Jude Children's Research Hospital is now   available to scientists from all over the globe.

St Jude's says the release more than doubles the volume of  whole genome data  available from all human genome sources combined.

The hospital says the Pediatric Cancer Genome Project has already given  significant insights into aggressive childhood cancers of the retina, brain stem and blood. And investigators have uncovered information about childhood leukemia that could  change diagnosis and treatment.
