Angie Koehle joined WTAJ News in June 2009 as a reporter and was later promoted to weekend anchor, then in 2012, morning and noon co-anchor alongside Patrick Schurr. It was a homecoming for the Pennsylvania native. Not only did she spend 5 years working in the region prior to returning, Angie is from Jefferson County. She is a graduate of Clarion University of Pennsylvania where she majored in Communication and minored in Business Administration.
Angie broke the news that a former death row inmate was moving into an area homeless shelter. His case prompted legislation that now requires shelters to report to it's municipality when a convicted murderer moves in. Angie was anchoring the night of the Sago Mine disaster, when Osama bin Laden was killed and the day that Jerry Sandusky was arrested.
Angie has worked as a writer, reporter and anchor at television stations across the state. She came to Altoona from Harrisburg. While there, she had a front row seat for the announcement of the first round of Bonusgate indictments and she reported on the extradition of a suspected serial killer. Before her stint in Harrisburg, she was an anchor and reporter for the local Abc and Fox stations.
Angie was a news writer and assignment desk assistant at WTAE in Pittsburgh before becoming a reporter. She also served as a spokesperson for a modeling school, giving lectures to high school students about self-esteem and dressing for success. She interned at KDKA in Pittsburgh while she was in her senior year of college.
Angie is a member of the Asian American Journalists Association. She and her husband have two little ones. They also have two dogs.
