Arthritis Walk

By: Charlotte Ames
Updated: May 8, 2008
More than 11,000 children in Pennsylvania suffer from a disease that we usually associate with adults. The C.D.C estimates that about 300,000 children have rheumatoid arthritis; about two million adults suffer from R.A. and 21 million adults have osteoarthritis.

Earlier this year...we introduced you to three-year-old Martina Maurer and her mother Tracey who live in Hollidaysburg. They both have rheumatoid arthritis and they're also serving as honorees in this year's Blair County Arthritis Walk.

Martina is still being treated with powerful medication but she's still in a considerable amount of pain, but she and her mother are looking forward to this Saturday's Arthritis Walk. It takes place starting at 10 a.m. May 10th at the Blair County Ballpark. Call Tracey at 693-2459 or email her at PAGEANT58@aol.com for more information.
