BEDFORD, BEDFORD COUNTY - Another winter storm blanketed Central Pennsylvania.

Snow and ice hit the southern counties of Central Pennsylvania first Tuesday night.

Around 7:00 the cars in downtown Bedford were coated with a thin layer of sleet. The mailboxes were also coated. The wintry mix started piling up on the grass soon after.

The streets were mostly empty because the cold weather and slippery sidewalks kept most folks inside.

PennDOT crews were spreading salt brine through the downtown streets. There wasn't enough buildup to plow yet, but the salt brine slows down the freezing process on the roads.

The guard rails along Interstate 99 also showed how quickly the sleet was piling up. PennDOT crews were also spreading their salt brine on that interstate between Altoona and Bedford.

The winter storm moved north through the region. It coated cars in Altoona parking lots, and kept going strong.
