BROCKWAY, JEFFERSON COUNTY - Monday afternoon in Hershey 12 teachers from across Pennsylvania waited anxiously to see who would be named the 2013 Teacher of the Year. At just 27, nominee Ryan Devlin, an English teacher at Brockway, says he did not think he was going to win; he was surrounded by great teachers with more experience than him but then the announcement was made.

Devlin had won. His teaching methods which include having a Twitter account for homework questions, having costumes for presentations, and being interactive by bringing the lessons to life gained him the honor.

"You were never sitting. His class was never boring" said student Steven Spirk.

"We were all hooting and hollering, we didn't care who heard us" said Principal Deedee Carlini.

For Devlin, this all is a matter of following a dream.

"I've wanted to be a teacher my whole life" he said.

He started teaching where he is an alumni, Brockway High School, directly after graduating from Waynesburg University.

Ever since has been leaving a mark on the school, community, students and his colleagues.

"All the students benefit by having him" said Superintendent Dan Hawkins.

Congratulations Mr. Devlin.
